After weeks of constant emails and phone calls searching for a doctor or specialist to interview for my MMP, I finally managed to make contact with a sleeping specialist, Professor David Nutt, who kindly agreed to answer a few questions for my documentary.

Professor David Nutt is a psychiatrist and neuropsychopharmacologist, specialising in the research of drugs that affect the brain and conditions such as anxiety, addition and sleep.

My interview with Mr Nutt was really interesting. He dated back to stories about giving lectures at universities about Kleine-Levin Syndrome with other sleeping specialists, doctors and lecturers and not one knew what the syndrome was. This reinforces the rarity about the condition and how more awareness needs to be raised.

A positive that came out of this interview is that Mr Nutt believes that there will be a cure some day for Kleine-Levin Syndrome, however he said that the technology to do so is far too expensive at this time and the condition is not well known just to do so yet. This is something that will be in the interests of patients who have KLS, as it is positive news to them and their families. So watch out future, a cure could become available in the next 30 years!

Another interesting aspect that came out of this interview is that Mr Nutt compared the differences between KLS and narcolepsy. Both sleeping disorders, the professor explained that narcolepsy allows someone to have a life, where as others who have KLS lose out on time.
