The Editing Process Has Begun

We are now entering the early stages of editing the documentary together and the challenges I am facing are becoming clearer as the time goes on.

I currently have four interviews: two case studies (Jake and Meg), a family member and a trustee of a charity. However I feel like speaking to a medical professional would really tie the documentary together.
As explained in my previous blog post, I was hoping to be put in contact with Dr Catherine Hill, a sleeping specialist, as recommended by Helen Renouf. After several emails, tweets and Faecbook messages, I had no luck. I actually attempted to get in contact with both of Jake and Meg's doctors however with no luck still, as well as contacting experts from charity websites. Having speaking with my MMP tutor Mark in our last tutorial before submission, he suggested reaching out to perhaps a professor or a journalist who may have some knowledge in this particular area.
Professor David Nutt is a psychiatrist and neuropsychopharmacologist, specialising in the research of drugs that affect the brain and conditions such as anxiety, addition and sleep. With expertise on such conditions, I have asked to interview him on Sunday 7th January 2018 to find out why Kleine-Levin Syndrome is so rare, and why it can take so long to be diagnosed. This will be my fifth and final interview before editing can get underway properly.
At the moment, I have roughly edited around 3-4 minutes of the documentary and have introduced it with a strong and powerful introduction which I hope will entice my audience into continuing to listen. As my targeted radio station is Radio 4, I will ensure to be slow in the production of my documentary, from interviews, voiceovers and the choice of music I use. The music I must also ensure it doesn't swamp the actual content and message I am trying to portray in order to be successful and follow the lines of the brief.
